Celtic winger Kundai Benyu is set to leave the club to join Oldham Athletic on loan, Football Insider sources understand.
The two clubs are in advanced talks over a loan deal that runs from the January window until the end of the season.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Celtic have fielded enquiries from a number of clubs about taking Benyu on loan, but Oldham are set to win the race for his signature.
Benyu joined Celtic last summer when the Scottish champions beat a host of Premier League clubs to his signature following the expiration of his contract at Ipswich Town.
The 20-year-old has made a good impression on the Celtic coaching staff, but he has struggled to break into Brendan Rodgers’ star-studded first-team.
Benyu has made four appearances in all competitions for Celtic so far this season, but only two of those have been starts in the Scottish Premier League and the League Cup.
Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer of Benyu and he feels a move to Oldham is the next stage in the midfielder’s development before coming back to challenge for a place in the Celtic side next season.
