Exclusive: Celtic could pull off 'Massive Coup' as stunning Jan transfer plan revealed - pundit
Alex McLeish has admitted it would be a “massive coup” for Celtic if they are able to secure the services of Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster again.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Scotland and Rangers manager claimed the 32-year-old is an “outstanding” goalkeeper.
This site revealed earlier this week Celtic chiefs are willing to fund another loan move for the 6ft 7in the stopper who spent last season at Parkhead.
Neil Lennon was keen to bring Forster back in the summer but he chose to fight for his place at Southampton.
However, he has been limited to a place on the bench at St. Mary’s this season with Alex McCarthy established as first-choice.
Instead, the Hoops opted to sign Vasilis Barkas from AEK Athens for £5million but he has struggled in Glasgow and was dropped in favour of Scott Bain before regaining his place recently.

Asked by Football Insider whether Forster could help stop the rot at Celtic, McLeish said: “Yes, you would imagine that Fraser Forster coming back to Celtic would be a massive coup.
“Especially given the form that McGregor’s in. Looking at Marshall in the Scotland set up too.
“They’re all older goalkeepers but they’re all outstanding, and totally trusted by the players around and about them.
“That’s why I made the comparisons with those goalkeepers.”
Forster has kept 118 clean sheets in 236 games for Celtic across three loan deals and a permanent spell in Glasgow.
Last term, he played 39 times for the Hoops and helped the club to a historic ‘treble-treble’ including a match-winning performance in the Scottish League Cup final.
In other Celtic news, a top pundit has slaughtered a Hoops star who “scares” him and is letting the team down.
