Nottingham Forest centre-forward Lewis Walters is set to join National League side Barrow on loan until the end of the season, Football Insider sources understand.

Forest boss Aitor Karanka is happy to loan out Walters as he is well down the pecking order at the City Ground.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that a deal has been agreed in principle for Walter to head to the non-league outfit and is set to be announced imminently.

Walters had a one-month spell on loan at Barrow earlier this season where he made two appearances before returning to Forest in January.

The 22-year-old is highly-regarded at Forest and is a regular in the club’s Under-23s side.

Walters joined Forest in 2016 after being released by fellow Championship big guns Leeds United , but has yet to make his first-team debut for the club.
