EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke

West Ham midfielder Josh Cullen is poised to re-join Charlton Athletic on loan, Football Insider understands.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at the south Londoners, playing a key role in their successful promotion to the Championship.

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer is a big fan of Cullen and has been trying to bring the midfielder back to the Valley all summer.

An Addicks source has told Football Insider that a deal has now been agreed between both clubs and Cullen will make the move back to the club before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

His arrival will come as a massive boost to Bowyer having lost the likes of Joe Aribo, Patrick Bauer and Anfernee Dijksteel this summer.

Cullen, who has come through the ranks at West Ham, has made nine first-team appearances for the Hammers and is highly regarded at the London Stadium.

However, he is well down the pecking order in Manuel Pellegrini’s first-team plans and West Ham feel he will benefit by going out on loan again.

He has a year remaining on his contract with the Premier League club.

In other West Ham news, it can be REVEALED that the club have scrapped plans to sign centre-back and he’s in talks to join big London rivals instead.
