French club Nice are plotting a summer move to sign Chelsea starlet Tariq Lamptey, Football Insider understands.

The 18-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and the Ligue 1 big hitters, who are managed by Patrick Vieira, are hoping to lure the talented teenager away from Stamford Bridge with the offer of a quicker pathway to regular first-team football.

Chelsea have been credited with an interest in £35m-valued Nice right-back Youcef Atal this summer, should their transfer ban be delayed.

A source close to the player has told Football Insider that the French outfit and have earmarked Lamptey as a potential long-term successor to Atal and a part-exchange may be possible with the Premier League giants.

Lamptey is regarded as one of the most promising prospects at Chelsea after coming through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge.
