Exclusive: Club finalise Rangers player signing, he will join on Monday

Rangers rising star Josh McPake has finalised the terms of a January loan move to Harrogate Town, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

He will link up with them on 4 January after putting pen to paper in the last 24 hours.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday evening that the League Two outfit had won the race to sign the 19-year-old ahead of Forest Green Rovers.

The teenager was in attendance last night as Simon Weaver’s side took on League Two high-flyers Carlisle United, a game which was abandoned due to a frozen pitch.

The paperwork has subsequently been agreed and a deal will be completed in the coming days with McPake due to start work at Wetherby Road on Monday.

The forward will join a Harrogate side playing their first ever season in the Football League after they gained promotion to League Two via the National League play-offs earlier this year.

McPake has spent the first half of the season on loan at Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton, grabbing two assists in 12 appearances across all competitions.

The youngster has also been capped by Scotland at Under-19 level, scoring once in five matches.

He was handed his senior debut for Rangers by current manager Steven Gerrard in July 2019 but has not featured for the club since.

A product of the Light Blues academy, McPake penned a new contract at Ibrox in 2019 which will run until the summer of 2022.

In other news, a top pundit has claimed the Rangers XI for Saturday’s Old Firm clash has already been decided.
