RB Leipzig are readying a £30million move for Tammy Abraham after targeting him to replace star striker Timo Werner, Football Insider understands.
Abraham is firmly on the radar of the Bundesliga big hitters after they watched him extensively in recent months, including in action for Aston Villa against Blackburn last weekend.
A source at Leipzig has told Football Insider that the club’s scouts have been hugely impressed by Abraham and they are preparing a mega-money move to test his parent club Chelsea’s resolve to hang onto their youth product.
The England international has three years to run on his Chelsea contract and their willingness to sell him is likely to depend on their success in having their transfer ban lifted this summer.
Should the Premier League giants fail do so, Abraham could be welcomed into the first-team squad next season.
The 21-year-old has been one of the outstanding strikers in the Championship this season, scoring 22 times in just 32 appearances during his loan spell at Villa.
He has now netted 45 times in 74 Championship games as well as five times in the Premier League while on loan at Swansea City last season.
The England international has made just three appearances for Chelsea since graduating from their academy.
