Exclusive: Cristian Romero expected to quit Tottenham after final masterclass
Christian Romero is expected to leave Tottenham this summer following his player-of-the-match performance in the Europa League final against Man United.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 27-year-old’s future.
Romero is attracting plenty of interest ahead of the summer window, with clubs in Spain keeping a close eye on his situation with a move in mind.
As a result, Spurs will enter the transfer market in search of a replacement, with their ambitions boosted by qualification for the Champions League.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 21 April that Tottenham could lose Romero this summer as part of a major overhaul of the squad.

Tottenham could accept ‘£50m’ Cristian Romero offer
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 31 March that Tottenham would accept £50million for Romero as a result of his patchy form and injury concerns.
Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid want Romero and Spurs are open to his exit if they can land a replacement.
O’Rourke echoed Brown’s claim, as he explained the club have identified players and positions they want to strengthen in and are prepared for the centre-back’s departure.
“There are players they’re looking at and areas they want to strengthen in,” he told Football Insider.
“A new centre-back will be one of the top priorities for Spurs.
“Especially if they lose Cristian Romero, who has attracted a lot of interest and is likely to go.
“I expect it to be a busy summer for Tottenham, and obviously they can look at a different set of targets now they have Champions League football.”

Ange Postecoglou sack update emerges at Spurs
Despite lifting the Europa League, there is still plenty of uncertainty surrounding both the players and the manager’s situation at Tottenham.
Football Insider revealed on 23 May that Ange Postecoglou’s future remains up in the air with the board currently “50/50” over a decision.
While the Europa League success will provide a boost to the whole club, both financially and after ending their trophy drought, it has not offered the boss any guarantees.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 2 May that Postecoglou’s future is on a knife’s edge, with both the board and fans split over a decision.
