Exclusive: Saudis tipped 'pull the plug' on Newcastle bid after Bloomberg update

Danny Mills has claimed that Newcastle United could see their prospective Saudi buyers “pull the plug” on any potential deal if the Magpies begin to entertain interest from elsewhere.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds United defender claimed that the Saudi PIF, who have been trying to complete their purchase of the club for some time now, would not be willing to hang about if they felt that the Toon Army were seriously considering another offer.

Bloomberg recently reported that American businessman Henry Mauriss is exploring the option of hiring a PR guru as he prepares to mount a charm offensive on Newcastle fans after reportedly launching a rival bid for the Magpies last month.

And after that latest update, Mills has issued a warning to St. James’ Park chiefs.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “The problem is, is this American bid concrete?

“Is that going to happen? Because if you start to explore that while you’re dealing with the Saudis, having worked several times in the Middle East, what they they don’t like being is undermined.

“They’re in poll position. As far as their concerned, it’s their deal until it’s not their deal, until it’s finished.

“The moment you go an talk to another party, I expect they would pull the plug on it. That would be my only concern. Therefore, If your American deal isn’t a concrete one, you’d be left with nothing.”

The Saudi PIF have been embroiled in a battle to wrap up their attempted move for Newcastle United for several weeks, but are still waiting on a decision from the Premier League on whether or not they have passed the relevant properness tests.

The Mirror reported over the weekend that an increasing number of MPs are urging the governing body to block the deal from going ahead.

In other Newcastle United news, the Magpies are closing in on a signing Danny Mills has described as “fabulous”.
