Exclusive: Danny Mills implores Tottenham to sign wantaway attacker - 'Would be a fabulous coup'
Danny Mills implored Tottenham to sign Paris Saint-Germain attacker Edinson Cavani after he handed in a transfer request.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-defender claimed Cavani is the ideal striker for Spurs as Jose Mourinho would love him as he’d know exactly what he was getting.
Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo recently confirmed that Cavani wanted to leave the French giants in January as he has handed in a transfer request.
Spurs are a striker down following the injury to Harry Kane, but Mourinho refused to directly be drawn on a possible move for Cavani in his recent press conference.
Mills wasn’t overly confident that the London club could pull off a deal, but admitted if they could then it would be a fabulous coup.
When asked if Spurs should try to sign Cavani now more than ever as he’s handed in a transfer request, Mills told Football Insider: “Yeah, Mourinho has always loved a strong, powerful, centre-forward of that ilk, you know what you’re going to get from Cavani.

“He’s got pace, power and goals in him.
“He’s almost the typical Mourinho forward, even if it’s only for the short-term, a year, 18 months, two years.
“If Tottenham could pull that off, it would be a fabulous coup.”
The 32-year-old forward has played 14 times across all competitions this season, scoring five goals and registering one assist.
Cavani joined PSG in July 2013 from Italian side Napoli and his contract with the Ligue 1 side is due to expire at the end of the season.
