Danny Mills has insisted Everton have all the pieces in place to recruit some top-quality players this summer – partly thanks to the pedigree of Carlo Ancelotti.

The former Manchester City full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed the Toffees have the “fabulous” resources, personnel and ambition to “make a real impression” next season.

It was a dismal return for Carlo Ancelotti to Stamford Bridge last weekend, his side thrashed 4-0 by the in-form Chelsea.

It was the Italian’s heaviest defeat since signing a four-and-a-half-year deal at Goodison Park just before Christmas.

Mills believes the pedigree of the former AC Milan, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich gaffer will make for an exciting transfer window on Merseyside.

“For the first time in a long time, Everton have all of the pieces in place to go out and make a real impression and statement next season,” the ex-England international told Football Insider

“Under David Moyes, Everton punched above their weight.

“They now have an owner with ambition. They have a new stadium on the horizon. A fabulous academy. They now have a fabulous manager and sporting director so all of the pieces are now in place.

“There are players coming through from the academy but this summer is about recruitment. If they get the last piece right, next season will be very good. Just being Carlo Ancelotti alone will attract players.”

Ancelotti has won the league title in four different countries as well as the Champions League three times.

No additions to the squad were made in January but with the Toffees having spent over £400million since Farhad Moshiri took over the club in 2016 a busy summer is expected.
