Danny Mills has suggested that Everton left-back Lucas Digne may join Tottenham before the transfer window shuts next month.
Spurs have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old this summer after his impressive campaign at Goodison following his 2018 arrival from Barcelona.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Mills claimed the possibility of Digne moving to north London to replace Danny Rose is firmly on the cards.
“The merry-go-round has been given a big push by the Ndombele and Clarke deals, and I’m expecting Tottenham to be busy for the rest of the window,” Mills told Football Insider.
“There is talk of Lucas Digne going to Tottenham to replace Danny Rose if he leaves. There could be something in that, and it’s one to keep an eye on as a late window deal.”
Former full-back Mills is a big admirer of Digne and is convinced his value has rocked since he was signed a year ago for £18million.
“He has been brilliant.” Mills said. “He’s now worth £40million, more than double what they paid. He is technically very good, excellent going forward and knows how to defend. He’s going to get even better as he gets more used to the Premier League.”
Digne made a big impact at Everton last season, making 33 Premier League starts among his 38 appearances in all competitions and firmly establishing himself as the first choice ahead of Leighton Baines.
The 24-times France international has won league titles in Spain and France, with his CV including spells at European big guns Paris Saint-Germain, Roma and Lille in addition to Barca.
