Danny Mills has tipped Aston Villa to re-sign defender Axel Tuanzebe from Manchester United this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England right-back is convinced the centre-back, 21, will be “looking to leave” Old Trafford again on loan.
Tuanzebe had an impressive 2018-19 season at Villa, where he made 29 starts among 30 appearances and formed an outstanding partnership with fellow loanee Tyrone Mings despite missing three months of the season with a broken foot.
Manager Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer has publicly claimed Tuanzebe is “a boy I can’t wait to see in pre-season for us” as he looks to welcome him back to Old Trafford after 18 months at the Midlands giants.
“I can see him re-joining Villa,” Mills told Football Insider. “They need centre-backs, he did well for them last season, he’s developing well but he’s unlikely to play for Man United.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Villa make a new move for him. He certainly will be saying to United, ‘if I’m not in the first team, then I want to be out playing football again.
“Villa will be well placed to get him and he’s looking to leave, definitely.”
Tuanzebe is an England youth international, who has been capped at Under-21, Under-20 and Under-19 level.
United struggled in defence in a frustrating 2018-19 campaign, although it remains to be seen whether Solskjaer believes he is ready to play regularly and add to his eight senior appearances for the club.
In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that the club have made a move to sign a newly-available Premier League striker with great scoring record.
