Darren Bent believes Leeds United could move to sign Brentford forward Said Benrahma to replace the injured Pablo Hernandez.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Spurs and England striker delivered his verdict as Marcelo Bielsa revealed Hernandez is set to miss two more weeks with a groin injury.
The veteran attacking midfielder picked up the injury in the warm-up before Leeds’ game against Fulham at Elland Road last week.
He was not involved in Leeds’ win over Sheffield United on Sunday and he is now set to miss the Whites’ clashes against Manchester City and Wolves at Elland Road.
Asked by Football Insider what Leeds will do without Hernandez, Bent said: “This is why they might go and get Benrahma. That’s what Leeds thought, and planned.
“I know that Benrahma is a similar type of player to Hernandez.
“When Hernandez is out there’s a big difference, they don’t create half as much so maybe they have to go and address that.
“They need to maybe address that but I like the way Leeds are playing. Listen, I’ve got no worries about Leeds whatsoever.
“The fact they’ve got Bielsa in charge and they play with that high tempo, I think they’re going to be perfectly fine.”
Hernandez played a key role Leeds last season as they won the Championship title and returned to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.
The 35-year-old scored nine goals and contributed nine assists in 36 league games.
