Exclusive: Darren Bent tears into 'Relentless' West Ham fans
Darren Bent has had a dig at West Ham fans for contributing to the “toxic” atmosphere at the club as the team fights for Premier League survival.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham, Aston Villa, Charlton Athletic and Sunderland striker hit out at the Hammers faithful for being “relentless”.
Bent explained the unpopular club owners David Sullivan and David Gold have contributed hugely to the malaise affecting the club.
But he pointed out how the atmosphere at the London Stadium is far from conducive to West Ham players delivering their best performances.
“From top to bottom the club is disjointed,” Bent told Football Insider. “There is a real disconnect between the fans and the owners.
“That is a big deal and I know people say it does not affect on-field activities, but it does.

“It affects the whole mood in the stadium and then it becomes very tough.
“When things are not going well at West Ham it can go toxic very quickly and you need broad shoulders to deal with that because the fans are relentless down there.”
Many Hammers supporters are furious at what they feel are broken promises from the board as the club face a fight to avoid Premier League relegation.
West Ham are 18th in the Premier League table, in the relegation zone and are preparing for Sunday’s clash against champions Man City following months of wretched results.
In other West Ham news, it can be REVEALED that the club are planning to sell £18m man at a big loss this summer.
