Darren Bent fears a repeat of promotion heartache for Leeds United after they slumped to their third defeat in four Championship matches.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-United forward claims new signing Jean-Kevin Augustin can be the player to stop the rot and re-route the potentially sinking ship.
Leeds lost 1-0 at home to Wigan Athletic on Saturday as they failed to score for the third time in four league games.
The Yorkshire giants dropped to second in the table behind West Brom, but are three points ahead of Fulham in third place.
“Bad result for Leeds on Saturday, really bad,” Bent told Football Insider.
“Listen, it could be the same situation as what happened last year which you hope not. It’s got that kind of feel to it. It’s like they don’t want to be promoted.
“I think that Augustin will help. Ability-wise, he is brilliant. He could be stop a repeat of last year.”
Leeds collapsed in the final months of last season’s Championship programme to throw away the chance of automatic promotion.
They subsequently lost to Derby County in the play-offs, with Aston Villa eventually winning via the Wembley route to join Norwich City and Sheffield United in the Premier League.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are next in action on Saturday, when they visit fourth-placed Nottingham Forest in a 5.30pm kick-off.
It is the first of three league matches in eight days, with subsequent fixtures against two other high flyers, Brentford and Bristol City.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club have agreed a £2.5m deal after fee finalised.
