Exclusive: Darren Bent suggests Liverpool 22y/o has to seal permanent exit to kickstart career
Darren Bent suggested that attacker Sheyi Ojo has to seal a permanent exit from Liverpool to kickstart his career.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England international admitted that loan after loan was doing Ojo no favours as he hasn’t been able to settle at a club.
The 22-year-old winger is currently playing for Rangers as he’s on a season-long loan at Ibrox, with him having featured 29 times for Steven Gerrard’s side so far.
Ojo’s minutes have taken a hit with Rangers recently as he’s played under 40 minutes in his last five league outings.
Bent explained that Ojo needed to start impressing consistently at a club and suggested he should consider a permanent move to a Championship side or even a Scottish side.
When asked about Ojo’s minutes at Rangers taking a hit as of late and that being his fifth loan spell away from Anfield, Bent told Football Insider: “Loans are about game time and if you’re getting sent here, there and everywhere, you going to have to impress consistently.

“At some stage, you’re just going to have to.
“You have to stand up and be counted, for some people it takes a couple of loans and it works out for them, look at Tammy Abraham.
“Did well at Aston Villa, did well at Bristol City and is now flying in the Premier League.
“When you keep going on loan, it can upset you a bit as you can never settle, as you’re always thinking ‘Where will I be next season?’
“And I think it won’t do you any favours, so I think at some stage Ojo is going to have to leave Liverpool, go somewhere, it might be the Championship, it might be Scottish football, sign permanently and make a career from there.
“Sign for someone permanently on a four-year deal and get yourself right, he can’t be settling anywhere, when it’s loan-loan-loan all the time.”
Rangers are the fifth side Liverpool have opted to loan Ojo to, with him also having spells at Wigan Athletic, Wolves, Fulham and French side Stade Reims.
The 22-year-old has been with the Reds since November 2011 after being plucked from MK Dons’ academy.
In other Liverpool news, it can be REVEALED that the club are working on another blockbuster deal after blizzard of agreements.
