Darren Bent swooned over Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez following the Whites’ 4-0 win over Middlesbrough.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Tottenham striker shared that Hernandez was the only member of Marcelo Bielsa’s side that needed to feature whenever possible.

The 33-year-old attacking midfielder racked up his third assist of the campaign against Boro on Saturday, with him also having contributed two goals to the cause this season.

Bent explained that Hernandez was an unpredictable player who was capable of producing a bit of magic at the drop of a hat.

When asked about whether Leeds will be happy Hernandez gets to have a break in midweek due to no fixture, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah, he is the one player Leeds need whenever possible as he is capable of that bit of unpredictably that is sometimes required.

“He can pull the strings and step up to produce a bit of magic from nothing, and sometimes you need that in difficult games.

“Leeds have a lot of hard-working talented players but Hernandez can offer something else at times.”

Hernandez has been at Elland Road on a permanent basis since January 2017 after previously only signing for the Whites on loan from Qatar club Al Arabi.

The veteran attacker has racked up 135 appearances for the Championship side so far in his career and is contracted to stay with Leeds until 2022 after signing a new deal in November.

In other Leeds United news, Football Insider can reveal that the Whites’ promotion rivals are in pole position to take Eddie Nketiah on loan in January.
