Derby County winger Florian Jozefzoon is in talks to join Championship rivals Rotherham United, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The 29-year-old appears surplus to requirements at Pride Park and looks set to leave before the domestic transfer window closes on Friday evening.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the former Leeds United target is discussing a loan move to the New York Stadium ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
The winger does not appear to feature in Phillip Cocu’s plans and is yet to make a matchday squad for Derby this season.
Jozefzoon has fallen down the pecking order at Pride Park following the arrivals of Kamil Jozwiak from Lech Poznan and Jordon Ibe on a free transfer this summer.
He made 14 appearances for the Rams in the 2019/20 campaign but has not started a game for nearly 12 months – his last start coming against Luton in October 2019.
Derby signed Jozefzoon from Brentford for a fee of £2.75million in July 2018, the attacker putting pen to paper on a three-year contract at the Midlands club.
As reported by Sky Sports, Leeds matched the Rams’ £2.75 million bid for the former Netherlands Under-21 international but the player opted to move to Derby instead.
Jozefzoon’s 99 Championship appearances to date have yielded 10 goals and 11 assists.
Rotherham United manager Paul Warne is looking to bolster his attacking options before the domestic window shuts on Friday, the Dutch winger a potential signing.
The Millers have failed to score more than one goal in any of the first five fixtures of the 2020/21 campaign.
In other Derby County news, it can be REVEALED that Leeds are ready swoop to for £10m-valued Rams midfielder by 5pm Friday.
