Nottingham Forest midfielder Tyrese Fornah is poised to join League Two outfit Macclesfield Town on loan, Football Insider understands.

The 20-year-old is highly-rated at Forest and he made his first-team debut in the 2-0 loss to Chelsea in the third round of the FA Cup earlier this month.

A source at Forest told Football Insider that a number of League One and League Two clubs expressed an interest in taking Fornah on loan, but Macclesfield are in advanced talks to agree on a deal to bring him to Moss Rose.

The English midfielder is a regular for Forest’s Under-23s and he was rewarded for his progress with a new deal at the City Ground in December.

Fornah is a versatile player as he's capable of being deployed as a defensive midfielder or an attacking midfielder.

The Championship club feel the promising prospect will benefit from spending the second-half of his 2019/20 campaign out on loan as he'll gain valuable first-team experience which will aid his development.

Forest are currently fifth in the Championship ahead of facing 16th-placed Reading on Wednesday.

In comparison, Macclesfield are currently third from bottom of League Two, two points above the drop zone.

The Silkmen are next in action on Tuesday as they're set to host high-flying Crewe at Moss Rose.

Macclesfield go into that match having won only one of their last five league matches.
