Burton Albion have set their sights on signing Wolves rising star Terry Taylor this month, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The League One strugglers are keen on the midfielder after the termination of his season-long Grimsby Town deal.
Football Insider revealed yesterday the midfielder was set to be recalled from Blundell Park and another EFL loan move was a possibility.
Taylor could be new Burton manager Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink’s first signing after he rejoined the club on New Year’s Day.
The former Chelsea striker has been tasked with keeping the Brewers in League One.
They are currently eight points adrift of safety at the bottom of the third tier.
Taylor, 19, could offer midfield reinforcements after enjoying a decent start to the season with Grimsby.
The Wales Under-21 international played 14 times for the Mariners but did not make the matchday squad for the last five League Two games he was available for.
Wolves are keen that Taylor keeps developing after enjoying a breakout year for their Under-23 side last season.
He arrived at Molineux from Aberdeen in the summer of 2019 and was handed his first-team debut in October of the same year in Wolves’ 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.
His performances for James Collins’ Under-23 side saw him put pen-to-paper on a fresh two-year deal in July 2020.
Scotland-born Taylor has played four times for Wales Under-21s and has trained with the senior side on occasion.
