Exclusive: Everton 23-yr-old in advanced talks to join new club
EXCLUSIVE By Pete O'Rourke
Everton defender Brendan Galloway is in advanced talks to join Luton Town, Football Insider can reveal.
The left-back, 23, is poised to move to the newly-promoted Championship club after Marco Silva gave the green light for him to exit permanently.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that Galloway is expected to complete a free transfer to Luton barring any late hitches after a breakthrough in negotiations.
It will end Zimbabwe-born Galloway's five-year spell at Goodison Park after moving to the Premier League club from MK Dons as a teenager.
Capped by England at Under-21 level, there were high hopes that the defender could establish himself as a first choice player but he has not been able to do.
He has made just 21 appearances for the Merseysiders and was frozen out of the first-team squad completely last season after a disappointed loan spell at Sunderland the previous campaign.
Everton extended the contract last month of Leighton Baines, 34, by a further year in a move that effectively ended any slim hopes Galloway had of remaining at the club.
Lucas Digne is firmly established as the number one left-back, and Baines will deputise for him next season.
