Noel Whelan has lauded Djibril Sidibe for his impact at Everton this season and tipped the defender to seal a permanent deal at Goodison Park.

The former Leeds United striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed the 27-year-old comes at no risk as he is proven in England and available at a reasonable price.

The Toffees hold the option to buy the right-back for £12million when his season-long loan spell expires.

As revealed by Football Insider, Carlo Ancelotti has now given the deal the go-ahead having been impressed with the France international this campaign.

Whelan suggested Sidibe could be part of a team that will be highly competitive next season.

“I do not think Ancelotti would be throwing his money out if he did not feel that he was worth it,” he told Football Insider.

“I have been really impressed with what he has done since coming in there.

“He is competitive, strong, quick – everything that you want to see. Most importantly, he has proven he can handle it in the Premier League.

“Everton are another club that will be pushing and looking to break into that top four next season. They have the manager, they need a few more players but they will be very, very competitive next season.

“I am looking forward to seeing what they do in the window.

“Sidibe would be a smart signing for £12million, it is not going to break the bank. It is not a risk because he has shown he can handle it and he has the right attitude.”

However, with the transfer market expected to be highly volatile amid the coronavirus pandemic the deal is less than certain.

Sidibe has contributed 5 assists in his 24 appearances for the Toffees this season.
