Michael Brown believe it’s a new start for “everyone” at Tottenham, amid reports linking Ryan Sessegnon with a loan move to Ajax.
The former Spurs midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russel Edge, suggested the 20-year-old may just be finding his feet, after a year of upheaval at Hotspur way.
According to the Telegraph, Ajax are eyeing Sessegnon up as a potential temporary replacement for Chelsea-bound Hakim Ziyech.
And Brown believes this upcoming Premier League campaign will be a crucial one for the ex-Fulham youngster.
“He’s a great talent, he’s played lots of games so far in his career”, Brown told Football Insider.
“He’s gone into a Spurs side that has probably got that little bit of uncertainty having changed their manager.
“I think it could have taken a season for him to settle and he has to come back ready. We mentioned not so long ago that he needs to come back in pre-season as ready as he can to really set the tone. It’s a new start for everyone.”
After joining from Fulham for £25million last summer, Sessegnon made only 12 appearances for Spurs, and failed to feature at all after the Premier League restarted in June.
This has lead to manager Jose Mourinho reportedly pondering whether it would benefit him more seeking first-team football elsewhere.
However, the 20-year-old remains a top prospect and his talents are wanted by numerous clubs, according to the report.
Amongst them are his former side Fulham, who will be playing Premier League football next season following their return to the top-flight.
If Sessegnon is allowed to make a temporary move, his potential replacement will need no introduction to Spurs’ fans.
Football Insider has learned Tottenham are plotting a sensational loan move for Gareth Bale as they look to offer him a route out of Real Madrid.
In other Tottenham Hotspur news, Tottenham have agreed the terms of a £45m signing.
