Manchester United defender Demitri Mitchell is a target for Fulham and Cardiff before the close of the transfer window, Football Insider understands.

Premier League duo Fulham and Cardiff have both made enquiries about Mitchell's possible availability and are working on signing him by Thursday night.

Mitchell is currently on loan at Hearts, but United could cancel the loan if they receive a suitable offer for the defender who has come through the ranks at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old made his first-team debut for United on the final day of the 2016/17 season against Crystal Palace and he spent the second half of last season on loan at Hearts.

The England Under-20 international is highly-rated at United, but he is well down the pecking order to break into the first-team and United are open to considering offers for the full-back.

Fulham and Cardiff have monitored Mitchell's progress at Hearts this season and see him as a potential star in the making who would boost their defensive options.
