Kevin Phillips has claimed Celtic are braced for mammoth Premier League bids for man-of-the-moment Odsonne Edouard.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England striker is in no doubt that elite teams south of the border will be running the rule over the French forward as they prepare offers ahead of the summer window.
Edouard, 22, has taken his game to a new level this season and been outstanding in Celtic’s treble defence as well as their pursuit of European glory.
Phillips is in no doubt that the likes of Leicester City, managed by ex-Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, will be looking closely at Edouard with a view to the summer window.
He told Football Insider: “He looks and is a top class player, and top class Premier League clubs are sniffing around him from what I hear.
“Huge bids are going to come in and Celtic might find it hard to turn down. Unfortunately, £30million up there is a lot of money but it’s nothing these days to teams like Leicester.
“if I was a player in Scotland now and Leicester were sniffing around, it would probably turn my head. Who wouldn’t want to go and play for Brendan Rodgers at the moment at Leicester?”
Edouard was brought to Parkhead in the summer of 2017 by Rodgers, initially on loan before he was signed permanently 12 months later for a club-record £9m.
The Frenchman has not only been consistently outstanding for Celtic this season but also scored prolifically for his country at Under-21 level.
From 38 matches in all competitions for the Hoops this term, he has scored 23 goals and also weighed in with 16 assists.
In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED that the club are working to agree new defender deal after Lennon intervention.
