Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal for Joe Rodon after a breakthrough in talks this afternoon, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Premier League giants are in advanced negotiations with Swansea City after tabling a new offer today.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Tottenham are more likely than not to now finalise the signing of Rodon, 22, by Friday’s 5pm cut-off.
Tellingly, the Welsh club are now scrambling for a replacement for Rodon and are looking to secure a proven Premier League centre-back.
It is expected that Tottenham will sign the Wales international in a straight-cash deal.
Multiple formulas have been discussed between the north Londoners and the Championship club in recent days.
Tottenham have offered fringe stars to sweeten the transfer and get close to Swansea’s £15m valuation.
But Swansea have knocked back a number of suggestions including USA international Cameron Carter-Vickers.
It has been reported Swansea want nearly £18m for their academy product. Spurs are not willing to go that high.
Rodon is the number one deadline day target of Jose Mourinho’s side after impressive development in the two years since Swansea’s demotion from the Premier League in 2018.
The 6t 3in defender has played 54 times for the club, 52 of which have come in the Championship.
He has played the full 90 minutes of all four of Swansea’s league matches this season as well as representing Wales in their 3-0 defeat to England at Wembley last Thursday night.
