Darren Bent has named Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli as the big-name player he can see leaving the club first.
The former Spurs striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits the Lilywhites find themselves in a “weird situation” after establishing themselves as one of the top teams in England.
Star striker Harry Kane has made his public his feelings about the club’s current standing, admitting he could leave the Lilywhites if they do not improve.
In an interview with Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, Kane said: “I’m not someone to just stay there for the sake of it. It’s not a definite I’m going to stay there forever. I want to win, I want to win team trophies, I want to be doing it sooner rather than later.”
However, Bent admits he thinks it could be 23-year-old Alli who is the first big name to leave north London.
Bent told Football Insider: “At the minute you don’t quite know what’s going to happen.
“If you’d have asked me before who would have been the first to potentially go, I wouldn’t have said Harry Kane. I would have potentially seen a Dele Alli or someone like that going before him.
“It’s a really weird situation for them to be in.”
Alli, who signed from MK Dons as a teenager back in 2015, has gone on to play 219 times for the Lilywhites across all competitions.
He has featured 35 times for Spurs this season, sitting out just one game since Jose Mourinho’s arrival as manager.
