Danny Mills has claimed it is “realistic” for Liverpool to sign Man City superstar Leroy Sane this summer if they are to lose Mohammed Salah or Sadio Mane.

The former City full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, suggested the 24-year-old ticks all the boxes for Jurgen Klopp but admitted the current Premier League champions would be reluctant to sell to their rivals.

As revealed by Football Insider, the league leaders have sighted Adama Traore as a potential replacement for Salah or Mane with the latter being targeted by Real Madrid this summer.

Traore, 24, has scored six goals and provided 10 assists in his 43 appearances for Wolves this campaign.

When asked if the La Masia graduate would be a suitable replacement was Salah or Mane to exit Anfield, Mills told Football Insider: “Traore makes a lot of headlines because of his pace and power but to step into a title-winning side, to replace somebody like Mane or Salah – I do not think he is there yet.

“Somebody like Leroy Sane – possibly. He is coming back from injury and has been linked with a move away recently and could be surplus to requirements. He is young, a great talent and has experience. That would be more realistic but I do not know if Manchester City would sell to rivals.”

Sane has not featured for Pep Guardiola’s side since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the Community Shield back in August.

The winger was subject to repeated speculation over his future at the Etihad as Bayern Munich keen to take the player back to the Bundesliga.

In other Liverpool news, Paul Robinson has told Football Insider young-attacker must be chosen over Ryan Fraser this summer.
