Liverpool star Jayden Danns is set to sign a new contract before heading out on loan to Sunderland, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old is poised to go on his first senior loan away from Anfield after coming through the ranks on Merseyside.

The Black Cats have won the race for his signature and will bring him to the Stadium of Light after agreeing a loan deal running until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Danns, son of former Crystal Palace midfielder Neil, has made four senior Liverpool appearances this term.

The striker has been with the Reds since the age of eight and signed his previous deal last year (2024).

He got on the scoresheet for Arne Slot’s side last month after coming off the bench in the 4-0 FA Cup victory over Accrington Stanley.

The forward made his Liverpool debut under Jurgen Klopp last season and scored twice in the FA Cup win against Southampton.

Danns also played a key role in the League Cup final win over Chelsea, playing 33 minutes off the bench as the Reds lifted the trophy at Wembley.

Liverpool

Sunderland sit fourth in the Championship and are six points adrift of an automatic promotion spot after a strong start to the season.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League and have only suffered one defeat in the 2024-25 campaign.
