Kevin Phillips has claimed it is not nailed on Jack Grealish will quit Aston Villa if they fail to survive in the Premier League this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England striker claimed he’s heard the 24-year-old’s love for the club is so great that he may want to stay regardless of whether or not the Midlands giants beat the drop.

It has been reported that Manchester United are keeping tabs on the playmaker, but that he has yet to have his head turned by the prospect of leaving his boyhood club.

But Phillips believes that he could be headed for the exit door if Dean Smith’s men make a swift return to the Championship.

When asked whether or not Grealish will be playing in the Premier League next season regardless of where Villa finish in the table, the pundit told Football Insider: “You would imagine that, but from what I gather he loves Villa that much.

“He’s a bit like Gabby Agbonlahor – he never left Villa when perhaps he could
have.

“That would be an interesting one but again, if you were a betting man, you would expect him to move on. I think the situation with the finances for Villa’s point of view, they might have to cash in in the summer if they don’t stay up.”

Grealish has been in stunning form this season, hitting nine goals and six assists across 25 appearances in all competitions, with seven of his strikes coming in the Premier League.

His latest contribution came in the vital 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Brighton over the weekend, and his form has been so impressive that he is being touted for a potential England call-up.

In other Aston Villa news, Darren Bent has claimed that manager Dean Smith has hung one ace out to dry at Villa Park.
