Leeds United are planning a move for Barnsley loan star Oliver McBurnie this summer, Football Insider sources understand.
McBurnie has been a revelation for the former club of manager Paul Heckingbottom since joining on loan from Swansea City on transfer deadline day in January.
The Scotland Under-21 international has netted five goals in six Championship games for Barnsley and his form has brought him to the attention of a number of Premier League and Championship clubs.
However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Leeds have made McBurnie one of their top transfer targets this summer as Heckingbottom looks to reshape the squad at Elland Road.
Heckingbottom is a huge admirer of McBurnie having tried to sign the forward last summer for Barnsley only for red tape to see the move fell through.
The recently-appointed Leeds boss finally secured the signing of McBurnie in January for Barnsley only to leave for Elland Road less than a week later and he is keen to work with the Swansea striker again at Elland Road.
McBurnie is out of contract at Swansea this summer and Leeds are ready to offer him a move away from Wales if he does not agree a new deal at the Liberty Stadium.
Rangers pushed to sign boyhood Ibrox fan McBurnie in the January window but were beaten to the punch by Barnsley.
