Leeds are plotting a move to sign French youth international defender Enzo Valentim, Football Insider understands.
Right-back Valentim has emerged on the radar of Leeds after impressing for club and country over the last year.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider that the 18-year-old is firmly in the sights of the club as they look to strengthen their youth ranks before the window shuts.
The teenager currently plies his trade for Reims II in National 2, which is the fourth tier of French football.
Valentim came through the ranks at Tours before joining Reims last summer and he has made 36 first-team appearances in his career to date.
The France Under-19 international is highly-rated in his homeland and Leeds see the defender as a potential star in the making.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa has shown he is not afraid to give young players an opportunity at Leeds and he is keen to improve the club’s Under-23s with new recruits.
Since the Argentine took charge at Elland Road, there has also been a clear pathway from the youth teams to the senior sides, with Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton among those who have established themselves in the first XI.
