Leeds United are plotting a move to sign Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen on a free transfer this summer, Football Insider understands.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider the club have identified Norwegian Johansen as a potential target from the list of free agents this summer whether they win promotion to the Premier League or remain in the Championship next season.

The 48-times international is currently on loan at Leeds' Championship promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion after joining on loan during the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old found himself out largely out of favour at Fulham this season, despite playing a key role in their successful promotion to the Premier League last season.

The former Celtic man faces an uncertain future at Fulham after being loaned out and his current contract expires this summer.

The news of Johansen's availability on a free transfer has alerted Leeds, who are busy planning to add to their squad whatever league they are playing next season and the goalscoring midfielder is an attractive proposition to Marcelo Bielsa's side.
