Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa may be tempted to sign a striker in the January window after Rodrigo Moreno's poor performance in their 3-0 defeat to Crawley Town.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England striker suggested Bielsa may not be able to rely on the 29-year-old if Patrick Bamford gets an injury.

Rodrigo moved to Elland Road for a club-record £29million fee from Valencia in the summer where he operated as a striker.

Bamford admitted earlier this month that he feared for his place in the starting XI after the Spaniard's arrival but he has instead been utilised in midfield.

Sunday's trip to the People's Pension Stadium was just the second time he had led the line from the start for Leeds United but he had little impact on the game and was replaced at half-time.

Asked by Football Insider whether Rodrigo's performance could prompt Bielsa to rethink his forward options, Agbonlahor said: “I think most managers would want three strikers.

“Bamford has been great this season but if he gets an injury can you rely on Rodrigo?

“As much as everyone is on the case for Leeds for that performance it can happen.

“I’ve played in games in the FA Cup where there can be an upset because if you’re not playing at 100 per cent you can get turned over by any club, no matter what level they are and I think that’s what happened to Leeds. Crawley just wanted it more and that can happen in football.

“He [Bielsa] will be disappointed and he might look at bringing in another striker who can come in and fill in for Bamford when he’s rested or injured.”

Bamford has started all of Leeds' Premier League games this season and has found the net 10 times in 17 top-flight games.
