Leeds United are working on a deal to sign Derby County striker Cameron Jerome as they look to beat Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers to his signature, Football Insider sources understands.
Jerome, who joined Derby last January from Norwich, is understood to be available on loan after finding himself down the pecking order at Derby so far this season.
The Birmingham City and Stoke City forward has not featured under new boss Frank Lampard and the summer arrivals of Jack Marriott and Martyn Waghorn has increased competition for places in attack.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that news of Jerome’s availability on loan has alerted a number of clubs in England as well as several Turkish Super Liga sides.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is looking to add to his attacking options at Elland Road to provide cover and competition for Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford, and Jerome has emerged on his radar as he is proven forward at Championship level.
Blackburn and Bolton are both keen to strengthen their squads before the loan window closes at the end of the month and they are actively monitoring Jerome’s situation.
Turkish sides Trabzonspor, Ankaragucu and Goztepe are also interested in former England Under-21 international Jerome and are ready of offer him the chance to move abroad to continue his career.
In other Leeds United news, the club WILL now sign a Premier League big name after he snubbed offers from two of their rivals.
