Liverpool winger Rafael Camacho is keen on a loan move to Sporting Lisbon in next month’s transfer window, Football Insider sources understands.
Sporting Lisbon are among a number of clubs to have made enquiries about taking the Portugal Under-20 international on loan in January, but a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Sporting is Camacho’s preferred choice.
Sporting Lisbon are locked in talks with Liverpool regarding a possible loan move and are hopeful of tying up the deal soon.
Camacho has yet to make his competitive first-team debut for Liverpool, but he is highly-regarded by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp and was unused substitute in the recent games against Burnley and Manchester United.
The 18-year-old, who joined Liverpool from Manchester City in 2016, made a big impression in pre-season for Liverpool catching the eye in their International Champions Cup games against Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Manchester United and he has also impressed for Liverpool in this season’s UEFA Youth League.
Liverpool feel Camacho will benefit by going out on loan in search of regular first-team action before returning to Anfield next season to challenge for a spot in Klopp’s first-team plans.
The tricky winger is entering the final 18 months of his current contract at Anfield and Liverpool are keen to tie him down to a longer term deal before finalising his loan departure.
