Exclusive: Louis Page responds to Leicester City offer

Leicester City midfielder Louis Page has rejected a professional contract from the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Leicester have high hopes for the 16-year-old, and are keen to tie him down on a pro deal when he turns 17 later his month.

It’s believed Page has now rejected Leicester’s offer, in search of a quicker pathway to regular first-team football elsewhere.

News of Page’s contractual situation has alerted a number of clubs across England and Scotland to his impending availability, as well as several sides overseas.

Sources have told Football Insider that some Bundesliga and Serie A teams are now weighing up moves for Page, in the knowledge that he would be available for minimal compensation from Leicester.

Leicester set to lose Page as summer exodus continues

Regarded as one of the best young prospects in the country after impressing for club and country over the last couple of years, Page won Leicester’s Academy Player of the Year award last season.

Page became one of the youngest players to make their Under-23s debut in September 2024, when Leicester beat Hull City 1-0 in their first match of last season’s Premier League Cup.

The box-to-box midfielder has also caught the eye on international duty, and made three appearances for England at this summer’s Under-17s European Championships.

Leicester have already lost Jamie Vardy this summer after he ended a 13-year association with the club, and now look set to miss out on another standout performer at the other end of the experience scale.

Leicester face freefall as relegation fallout worsens

Losing a bright academy product in the form of Page will be a bitter pill for Leicester fans to swallow, but it’s far from the biggest of their worries as the rudderless Foxes prepare to return to the Championship.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s sacking was finally confirmed on 27 June and came over a month after Leicester’s relegation was confirmed, but the Foxes’ much-maligned owners have still not appointed a replacement.

Sean Dyche and Danny Rohl have emerged as front-runners to succeed Van Nistelrooy at the King Power Stadium, but Leicester return to competitive action in 34 days with seemingly no direction whatsoever.

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has become more and more unpopular with Foxes fans as their downward spiral continues with a second relegation, and Leicester find themselves in an increasingly precarious position.
