Celtic face competition from La Liga side Real Sociedad for the permanent signing of Mohamed Elyounoussi this summer, Football Insider understands.

The Norway international is currently on a season-long loan at Parkhead from Southampton and Neil Lennon wants to keep him on a full-time basis after being impressed by his performances this campaign.

However, a source in Spain has told Football Insider that the Hoops face competition for his capture from Sociedad, who have made one of their top targets this summer.

Southampton are open to selling Elyounoussi in the summer for the right price as he is down the pecking order under Ralph Hasenhüttl.

The Premier League club value him at between £8-10million.

The winger made an instant impact at Celtic upon his arrival in Glasgow, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in 15 games before suffering a foot injury in November.

The setback has curtailed Elyounoussi's impressive progress at Celtic, keeping him out of action until earlier this month.

But he is now back to full fitness and has made three appearances in the last few weeks.

He has so far been unable to reclaim his starting spot in Lennon's starting XI, with Celtic in a fine run of form since the winter break to move 12 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
