Marco Silva fears he is one match from the Everton sack amid the club considering Laurent Blanc to replace him, Football Insider has learned.

The under-fire Portugese revealed at the weekend he had met with owner Farhad Moshiri in recent weeks and been given assurances he will have time to turn the club's form around.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that Saturday's loss to Burnley at Turf Moor has now altered the picture at Goodison Park.

Silva has told friends he is expecting to be dismissed if his side lose at home to West Ham following the international break, a match he has already labelled "must-win".

Everton chiefs are losing patience with Silva on the back of four consecutive Premier League defeats that leaves the team in the relegation zone.

The source explained that the board have spoken about the possibility of hiring Frenchman Blanc to replace Silva.

But the ex-France, Paris Saint-Germain and Bordeaux manager, 53, is a prime contender to become the new boss of Lyon following Sylvinho's dismissal last night.

Everton will become compiling a shortlist of potential successors in the event they are forced to pull the plug on Silva's reign.

He is fighting for his job after a mixed first season that ended impressively has been followed by a wretched start to the new campaign.

The Toffees have taken just seven points from eight league matches, five of which have been defeats.
