Man City will "do everything they can" to tie Kevin De Bruyne down to a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

De Bruyne, 33, is currently out of contract at the end of the 2024-25 campaign - putting him in the box seat in discussions.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (30 September) that the playmaker's new injury will have no bearing on negotiations.

Sources say the injury is not "serious" and is not sparking fears about his long-term durability.

Talks are planned with De Bruyne over extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium to over 10 years, with a solution expected to come before the end of 2024.

The Belgium international is highly coveted in Saudi Arabia, with Middle Eastern clubs already prising several stars away from City in recent windows.

De Bruyne, formerly of Wolfsburg and Chelsea, signed his last contract extension in April 2021.

He has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and one Champions League trophy during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
