Manchester United are set to earn more than £20million from their trips to Asia and the US this summer, sources have told Football Insider

Man United have announced they will travel to Asia at the end of May for their first-ever post-season tour.

They will take on ASEAN All Stars in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 28 May – three days after the Premier League season ends – and Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Stadium on 30 May.

United are expected to earn around £8million from their post-season tour before the players head off for their summer break.

The Manchester giants will return to the US in July to compete in the Premier League’s Summer Series, having toured the country in both of the past two summers.

Ruben Amorim’s side will face West Ham in New Jersey, Bournemouth in Chicago and Everton in Atlanta, with the fixtures taking place between 26 July and 3 August.

Sources have told Football Insider the US tour will be worth around £15million, taking United’s total earnings from both summer trips to around £23million.

Man United face PSR issues after new blow

The tours come at a time when United are facing profit and sustainability (PSR) issues as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to improve the financial situation at Old Trafford.

The INEOS chief has come under fire in recent months following his cost-cutting measures, which have included staff redundancies, charity cuts and halting benefits for ex-players.

The club sent a letter to fan groups in January warning them they are at risk of breaking the PSR rules, with top-flight sides only permitted to make £105million of losses over a rolling three-year period.

United posted a club-record revenue of £661.8million in 2023-24, but they recorded a net loss of £113.2million.
