Manchester United are ready to offer Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff a £15million contract, Football Insider understands.
The 20-times league winners want to make the 21-year-old their third 21-year-old British signing this summer after rising stars Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka agreed deals.
A United source has told Football Insider the club are increasingly hopeful of signing Longstaff and have held preliminary discussions with Newcastle over a deal.
Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are yet to table a formal bid for Longstaff but have let it be known that one will be submitted later in this window.
As reported by Football Insider, United are ready to start the bidding at £18million to land the central midfielder and the source explained he will be offered a massive pay rise to move to Old Trafford.
United are set to offer Longstaff a five-year contract worth around £60,000-a-week, more than £15million over the full term.
It would represent a huge salary hike for the young Englishman, who has three years remaining on the Newcastle contract he signed last year.
Longstaff broke into the Magpies first team last season and made an excellent impression in his 13 senior appearances, including eight consecutive league starts, before a knee injury in March ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.
In other Man United news, it can be REVEALED that a Premier League player has undergone a medical at the club.
