Chelsea have leapfrogged Tottenham in the race to sign Dutch wonderkid Lamare Bogarde this summer, Football Insider can reveal.

The two London giants are among a cluster of top European clubs closely monitoring the situation of the Feyenoord 16-year-old.

A Chelsea source has told Football Insider that the club are confident they have moved ahead of rivals in the battle for Bogarde.

He is also attracting strong interest from Tottenham as well as a third London big hitter in Arsenal.

On the Continent, European giants Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, Juventus and AC Milan are also keeping close tabs on the teenager.

However, it appears more likely that Bogarde will be headed to a Premier League team this summer.

Talent spotters across Europe have been alerted to the teenager’s immense potential and delivered rave reviews on his performances at centre-back for Feyenoord and Holland age-group sides.

He has been capped by his country at Under-16 level and has been a regular for his club’s youth teams.

Bogarde, who has a brother on the books of Hoffenheim, has made rapid strides this season and is now expected to be transferred.

Like all clubs, the Premier League big guns are waiting to see how plans to complete the current season unfold, and the impact this will have on their transfer budget.

However, that should not make too much difference in terms of signing relatively inexpensive young players.

In other Tottenham news, another Christian Eriksen situation is on the cards amid “very uncomfortable” Daniel Levy and Jose Mourinho talks.
