Exclusive: McNamara believes Rangers will do 'Cartwheels' if reported valuation of player met
Jackie McNamara believes Rangers would be thrilled if anyone paid £10million+ for defender Borna Barisic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Scotland international claimed if the Gers got that amount of money, they could instantly reinvest it and get a few of the player they want.
It was recently reported that the 27-year-old defender has been valued at well in excess of £10million by recently appointed sporting director Ross Wilson.
It is claimed that the Gers have told Barisic he won’t be sold for any price in January despite AS Roma being linked with a move.
McNamara admitted that valuation of Barisic may be just to scare AS Roma off rather than it being the defender’s true value.
When asked about Barisic’s valuation and whether he is truly worth that amount or whether it’s a scare tactic by the Gers, McNamara told Football Insider: “I think if they got that for him, they’d be doing cartwheels.
“Maybe that price is to scare them off just for now because if they got that, they’d reinvest it right away as they could get a few players that they probably want.”
The Croatian left-back has played 27 times across all competitions for Steven Gerrard’s this season and has racked up an impressive 13 assists in the process.
Barisic has been at Ibrox since joining the Gers from Croatian outfit NK Osijek in August 2018 and he is contracted to stay until 2022.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have tabled a centre-forward offer.
