Jackie McNamara claims that Neil Lennon has held clear-the-air talks with Olivier Ntcham at Celtic after the midfielder featured in the club’s Champions League qualifier versus Nomme Kalju.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Parkhead and Scotland star says that things look to be cleared up between manager and player after the Frenchman came under fire earlier this summer.
Ntcham incurred the wrath of his manager and the Celtic faithful with his comments suggesting he wanted a move away from Parkhead due to the lack of quality in Scottish football.
However, McNamara says that things look to be sorted out between the pair, the 23-year-old featuring as a substitute in Celtic’s 5-0 win in Glasgow on Wednesday night.
Asked by Football Insider if he thought things had been cleared up behind-the-scenes, McNamara said: “Yeah. These boys go back to their home countries and do articles and sometimes get misquoted. Things get put out there to try and get a move.
“At the end of the day, they’re a Celtic player until Celtic say otherwise.
“Neil’s obviously dealt with that internally and spoke to the boy. It’s probably a case of he’s been back home and people have put things onto it and spun things differently.”
Ntcham featured 37 times for the Hoops last season, scoring six goals, and he has a total of 86 appearances under his belt during his time at Parkhead.
