Jackie McNamara has claimed Celtic fans can expect to see the club’s first summer signing next week.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the Hoops legend and well-connected ex-SPL manager is convinced the incoming deals will start to be done from 11 June.

Celtic announced that Neil Lennon will become permanent manager last week after signing a 12-month rolling contract to herald his second spell in charge.

The club are preparing for a major summer overhaul despite securing a third consecutive treble in the recently-completed season.

Asked when fans can expect to see the club’s first summer signing, McNamara told Football Insider: “I think everything will start taking shape the 11th of June, when the start of the window opens in England and Scotland. Obviously you’ll see things happen then.”

Long-standing Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell revealed at Lennon’s unveiling that the club have been working for four months on securing the signings to maintain their position of dominance in Scotland.

“We realise the squad needs freshened and it probably needs strengthened,” Lawwell said. We’ve actually been working on it since February in terms of options and making enquiries. We know the direction we want to go in in particular positions.”

Lennon will be joined in the dugout by assistant manager John Kennedy and first-team coach Damien Duff.

In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED that a senior Hoops star has cleared out his locker after being given his marching orders.
