Jackie McNamara admitted he was surprised by Celtic pursing Stoke City attacker Tyrese Campbell as he wasn’t sure the 19-year-old would be attainable.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Parkhead hero admitted only time will tell if the Hoops can get Campbell.
McNamara admitted he could be a good signing for the future as he is young but seemed to doubt whether he’d be able to get above Edouard in the pecking order.
When asked about Campbell being the type of player who could impact the first-team, McNamara told Football Insider: “Possibly, I’ll be surprised if they bring him in.
“Only time will tell, would he be able to play in front of Edouard right now? He could be one for the future, so would he want to come up right now?
“He is young and has a good pedigree with his dad as well.”
Campbell’s father, Kevin, was famed for his goalscoring ability during his playing career with him featuring for the likes of Arsenal and Everton.
The 19-year-old Potters forward has struggled to be among the goals this season in the Championship due to his opportunities being limited as he has scored only one goal in the 13 appearances he has made.
In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED that Brendan Rodgers is ready to blow his former club out of the water to sign 6ft 4in colossus in January.
