EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is a target for Tranmere Rovers in the final days of the window, Football Insider understands.
The League One side are looking to bring in a new left-back before the transfer window closes next week and are working on a deal to sign the forgotten 22-year-old.
A source at the Birkenhead-based outfit has told Football Insider they are keen to sign Borthwick-Jackson on loan.
The 22-year-old has not featured for United for nearly three years and spent last season on loan at Scunthorpe after previous loan spells at Leeds United and Wolves.
Borthwick-Jackson is well down the pecking order at Old Trafford and is not in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.
The youngster rose to prominence in the 2015-16 season when he made 14 appearances under former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.
The England Under-20 international has subsequently not added to his United appearances, although he was a regular starter for Scunthorpe in League One in the last campaign.
In other Man United news, it can be REVEALED that a first teamer cold shouldered by Solskjaer has told senior club officials he’s staying at Old Trafford.
