Michael Brown has heaped praise on Joe Hart after the former England goalkeeper signed for Tottenham earlier this week.
The former White Hart Lane midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Russell Edge, even tipped the 33-year-old to push Hugo Lloris for the number one jersey next season.
The Lilywhites confirmed on Tuesday that Hart had put pen to paper on a two-year deal in North London following his release from Burnley at the end of June.
The former Manchester City shot-stopper made his debut for the club yesterday as Spurs kicked off their preseason campaign with a 3-0 victory over Ipswich Town.
Brown was amazed by Hart’s conditioning and backed him to reignite his career with Tottenham.
“He arrived in such good condition,” he told Football Insider.
“I think it was a really good thing to show how hungry he was. His desire is there and he wants to continue playing.
“To have that experience in the building, goalkeeper-wise with Joe Hart… He will be pushing to be involved every week although of course Lloris is of course the number one.
“Joe has the opportunity to go to an unbelievable setup and I think he will fancy himself to get a few games. He has not got the guarantee of playing every week but a great signing for a dedicated professional.
“It has not gone as well as he would have liked over the past few seasons but hopefully now he can get some minutes.”
Speaking to Spurs TV yesterday, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho said: “To bring Joe, 75 caps for England and lost of experience, he is great protection for us to have three goalkeepers.
“All internationals for their country, all good goalkeepers, you can sleep well because any injuries or problems that we have, we have three good goalkeepers.”
